My thoughts on “Botox on the High Street”

August 15, 2018

So, this week has seen the news that Superdrug, a well known chain has introduced a new Skin Renew Service, offering in-store (Allergan) Botox and Juvederm dermal fillers for which appointments must be booked in advance following a consultation. The services will be launched via a soft launch in the Strand store before rolling out nationwide. Prices start at £99.

I don’t think I know anyone who wasn’t talking about it to be honest, my feelings on it is that I feel that medical procedures should be seen as such and that getting this type of procedure done in such a venue could trivialise it and let people think it is nothing more than a facial or getting your eyebrows waxed, which is certainly not the case at all.

All procedures will be carried out by trained practitioners and no one under the age of 25 will be treated, so there are some positives in this, I just wonder whether this will fizzle out like their previous attempt at doing it did, or if this is the shape of non-surgical treatments for the future. We will all have to watch and wait I guess.

Hopefully, as Safety in Beauty has said, it will weed out some of the more dodgy “cosmetic cowboys” and that can only be a good thing.
